PARTNERSHIP MODELS

There are many partnership models in use across the world, which suit a variety of purposes. The first two models are ones that we have found the most useful as Partnership Broker to explain the different types of partnerships and to help people during each stage of their partnership. We hope that you find these tools useful in planning and moving through your partnership. As we find new ones we will continue to update this page.

The first partnership model is based on the idea that "most partnerships move up and down a continuum which shows progression based on the degree of committment, change required, risk involved, levels of interdependence, power, trust and a willingness to share turf." This Partnership Model is used by VicHealth and has four different levels of partnerships. These are: Networking, Coordinating, Cooperating and Collaborating. An overview of this model is available below.

The next partnership modeal that we use often is a three stage model created by Dixon Partnering Solutions. This model talks about three stages of partnership development and the different activites that occur at each stage. The three stages are Creating, Developing and Sustaining. We have included the partnering solutions handbook which explains this process in detail and provides a number of questions you can ask yourself during each stage of partnership development.
